Silvagrip™, the revolutionary non-skid surface developed for
skateboarders but soon will keep U.S. Navy sailors safe from slipping, is now
available through Complete Machinery Service of Spring Hill, Florida.
Installers simply peel, stick and seal the Silva Non-Skid Solutions
surface to walkways or decks.
Slips and falls are among the leading causes of non-combat
injuries in the Navy. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also reports slips and
falls are among the leading causes of workplace injuries and fatalities.
"We're very excited to offer Silvagrip™ as an
economical, easy-to-install, long-lasting safety solution that has endless
applications," said Martin Gold, Complete
Machinery Service director. "Use it on boats, buses, industrial and
retail walkways -- most anywhere workers and customers go."
Silvagrip™ is an aluminum and ceramic blend of molten metal
and sharp ceramic abrasives with hardness just under diamonds. Silvagrip™ can be
shaped or bent while maintaining its non-skid wear surface.
Among other Silvagrip™ features:
• Six to 12 years expected life.
• Corrosion proof.
• UV proof.
• Oil and chemical resistant.
• Can be cleaned by scrubbing or pressure washing.
• Maintains non-slip properties even when wet or under
water.
Silvagrip™ revolutionized the traditional epoxy non-skid
coatings to avoid conventional grip-tape resins that allow abrasive grit to
loosen and fall out with use.
On April 8, 2014, the Navy approved application of SilvaGrip™
on ship decks.
According to Silva Non-Skid Solutions, SilvaGrip™ was first
developed for longboard racers. The sheer forces encountered during long-board
racing far exceed normal wear and tear.
